HONOUR THE IMAM...
By supporting the Imam Development Program - which strives to enhance the skills of the Imam making him a Greater Asset to YOU.
Meet the Imam
Imam Noordeen Katona was born and bred in Dedza, Malawi. He has studied in Blantyre and The Islamic University of Madinah. He is married with 5 children and currently resides in Mangochi, another city in Malawi. He is the Madrassa teacher at Albarakah charity Trust, a programs coordinator at Islamic Information Bureau (IIB) and a supervisor for Makaatib Islamiyya at Moonrays Trust Schools.
He cites poverty as a reason for a lot of issues the community faces and hopes to effect change with his position as Imam. You will find him serving the community in the following roles:
- Daily Salah
- Friday Khutbah
- Daily Madrassah
- Tarbiyyah Classes
- Revert Classes
- Masjid Tours as a form of Dawah
- Home & hospital visits for the sick
- Designated classes for women
How does the Imam Development Program assist him?
As the leader of the community, the Imam is not only tasked with leading the 5 daily prayers but is responsible for introducing our children to Islam, advising our youth, patching up broken marriages, feeding the hungry, guiding the sinner to find absolution, giving hope to the hopeless; all with the ultimate aim of reconnecting everyone back to their Lord. Sadly, the men and women who are the heart and soul of the masjid; responsible for leading it and its congregation are many times neglected, under-resourced, under-skilled, overworked and overwhelmed by the magnitude of the task on their shoulders.
With the Imam Development Program, Imams receive a financial & development package. They receive targeted training and skills development focusing on key areas such as - Iman & Ihsan, Further Education studies, Public Speaking & engagement, Counselling & Problem-solving skills, and Essential emergency response care. All these contribute to enhancing the skill set of the Imam, adequately preparing him to deal with the needs of his community.
IDP also takes care of the Imam so he can take care of YOU!
